When it comes to our attitude towards getting a head shot taken, there’s pretty much three groups of people… there are those that enjoy being in front of the camera, those that don’t care either way and just go with the flow, and then there are the people that just hate having their picture taken. It’s said that roughly 60 - 70% might feel uncomfortable and/or don’t like having their picture taken… and if you’re one of the people that fall into that group, I totally get it.
As someone that really dislikes having my picture taken as well, I know it can be difficult and/or a little stressful. For people like us, it’s easy to get worked up thinking about all the negatives. We can easily create a fair amount of unneeded stress and anxiety for ourselves, all before the camera shutter was ever clicked.
The reason for not wanting to get a head shot taken, can vary from one person to the next and stem from insecurities with our physical appearance, the fear of being judged by others or possibly due to an undesired outcome from a previous photo shoot. Regardless of the reason, it’s easy for us to let the fears run wild.
Here are a few quick tips, that can help you through the whole process and hopefully make the experience more enjoyable… or at least tolerable:
I know that everything I just said is probably easier said than done, but know that I’m here for you! If you schedule a head shot session with Don Bensman Photography, we’ll get through it together. We can discuss everything ahead of time so you know what to expect… and on the day of the photo shoot, we can work through any sticking points you still might be having.
Going into the whole process with a positive attitude, could mean the difference between a head shot that you’ll totally love or a partially successful attempt!
